Nestled in the tranquil hills of the historic Mohawk Trail awaits a welcoming retreat. The Olde Cary House invites you with warmth, serenity and hospitality. This charming estate offers travelers the soothing atmosphere of ancient apple orchards, the babbling Foundry Village Brook and the antiquated remains of the once prosperous cider mill. The Olde Cary House was built in 1845. The Carys produced vinegar from the native grown apples. It rests on 12 wooded acres at the base of York Road, a country dirt road that ends in old farmhouses, a beaver pond, and old meadows. Click here for photos of the porch and yard. The inn has four bedrooms (two of the rooms have king size beds) with feather comforters, two shared bathrooms, and a dining and common room. Click here for photos of the rooms and rates. A full breakfast includes scrumptious items such as stuffed French toast with berries in season. Local sites include the town of Shelburne Falls with its Glacial Potholes and Bridge Of Flowers. Observe the glassblowers t work and visit the many shops where local artists display their goods. Deerfield Academy, Old Deerfield, and the historic sights of the Pioneer Valley are all close by. The University of Massachusetts, Smith, Amherst, and Williams College are convenient to The Olde Cary House. In the winter, Berkshire East (20 minutes) and nearby mountains of southern Vermont offer excellent skiing and recreation. |
